I have a Canon G2 and have a question of what is the best practice for
downloading pictures off of the camera to my PC.

Currently, I have been removing the compact flash card and then simply
connecting it to a USB adapter. The other option is the use the included
USB adapter cable directly from the camera body to the USB port on the PC.

Question: Which method is the least risk of damage to the camera....I am
getting a little concerned about the regular removal and the reinstall of
the compact flash card...will this lead to premature failure within this
expensive camera? I don't care about the replacement cost of the memory
card...they are cheap.

Any recommendations?

Phil

I use a USB card reader with my G2 - no problems to date.

I have used the Canon cable (USB) for 95% of my transfers over the last
year. I just find it easier than messing around with the card. I use the
Zoombrowswer software and I like the automatic loading and recognising the
camera when I connect up the cable. On the other hand I am constatly
removing the card anyway when it fills up and I'm away from my
pc.........never found any problems with this.
