Are digital cameras balanced for daylight or do they work well under
incandescent lighting as well? To put it another way, what Kelvin
temperature lighting do they work best in?

don't know if this helps, sonny, but here's the Olympus link for White
Balance on the C-5050Zoom:

For me, it's White Balance works really well.

Most lighting conditions. Preset and User-Defined White ballance
calibrations are just a few button presses on most cameras.
