Hello From Australia,

Have recently purchased a Ricoh RR30 as my first digital camera, and am
using a 64mb Sandisk SD Card.

The shot numbering system goes from RIMG0001 to RIMG9999.

I recently formatted the SD card to implement a firmware upgrade, and
expected that the numbering would return to RIMG0001. However, this was not
the case.

Does anyone know what will happen when RIMG9999 is reached. I expect to
reach this position within the next 3 years. Will the default be to return
to RIMG0001 ?

Thanks in advance for your advice and Best Wishes to you all. I enjoy
following the comments on this newsgroup.

I think (at least in my CP2100 is like this) that the number goes back to
0001 in two cases:
1. You reset your camera. (from somewhere within the menus, usually the
Setup Menu)
2. The number reaches 9999.

So formatting the memory card does not set the sequence number to zero.

Wish to be helpful.

Hello Smoothy,

Thanks for your prompt reply. I feel that the RR30 will probably adopt the
same default as you outline, at least with regard to your item 2, which will
suit me just fine. I have not found any way to reset the camera as per your
item 1.

Kind regards
