given certificate.txt, key.txt & CAcert.txt how to convert them in pem & use them

I have Certificate.txt, key.txt & CAcert.txt.

Can i just rename to .pem & use them or will i have to convert them?

Also should ca_location hold a path to CAcert.pem file?
