As a runner I love the Shoe Tracker plugin. Thanks for building it! As a cyclist, I also need to know how many miles I put on my tires as well as how many miles I've put on them between rotations. I'm currently using the Shoe Tracker plugin to track my tires but the needs for tracking tires are a little more complex than tracking shoes (which don't need to be rotated). I have to create new "shoes" each time I rotate my tires and add all the rotations to get the total mileage for a particular set of tires. I hope that makes sense. Just a suggestion.

Gary, I'm not a cyclist, so I can't really wrap my head around what the different needs would be for tires. Can you describe for me what would be needed that's different?

I'm not guaranteeing that I'd be able to add it -- in all honestly, the Shoe Tracker is a side-project I did primarily for my own use, and my general feelings about the RunKeeper API and some major disagreements I have with how they're allowing (or disallowing) its use have led me to slow down development against it. But if the differences are small enough that I could easily add them, I'd definitely consider it!

Yeah, I read some of that disagreement on the discussion board and completely understand. As for your question - I new to cycling myself, but was told by a friend last week that I should rotate by bike tires every 300 miles or so. I assumed he was right but after doing a little more research after my suggestion (which I should have done BEFORE making this suggestion) I found out that you should NOT rotate your good tires but only move the front to the back when the back wears out and put a new one on the front. My practice will now change and I won't be tracking mileage on my tires. So, in other words, please disregard my suggestion and have a great day!

Thanks for your willingness to share your side project with the rest of us.

Hah! I'm glad you did your own research, then. :)

Have fun!

For what it's worth, I think Shoe Tracker could have all kinds of miscellaneous uses.  Runkeeper does not have a generic tagging system, and Shoe Tracker gives you that capability, even if it is called "Shoes" :)

I'm using Shoe Tracker to track which cycling activites were done on which bike, for example, even if one doesn't care about the tires per se (I'm trying that right now but we'll see).  There are no features needed to support this usage as things work fine for me.
