Wasn't sure who needed to be involved in this decision, so I figured I'd email it to the entire Lean Eats group.

We have a holiday recipe book for Lean Eats in the works, and the question is whether to get pictures or not. I think pictures are absolutely necessary for the product to look good.

Jeff put together a list of images (attached), and so far, they would cost about $60. He has a few more to find.

We can have Brandon design the Cookbook, but we need a decision on pictures before he gets to work, as the layout will completely change depending on what pictures we do or do not have.

So, the question is, are we good to buy the images, or do we want to go imageless?

I have a strong preference towards buying them so we don't appear cheap to someone who purchases the product.

Take a look Tim, tell me what you think.

Based on what I saw, it looks like these pics would end up totaling around $60. And there are actually a few more I need to get if we're going to go this route.

What are your thoughts?

If we aren't going to sell this cookbook as a stand alone item and it is going to part of the 21 day and other various Fat Loss Solution programs we will be selling I don't think that they need pictures of food in them.  It is a bonus.

If it is being sold as a stand alone we need to make sure that is what we want to do and fill out a product proposal for it (I don't think there is one) before moving forward.

I think we are much better served to put this in as a bonus with the programs we hope to sell and avoid selling it together.

So should this cookbook be included as part of the 21 Day product that's in Basecamp now?
If so, we can just take out the word "Holiday".

Jeff,

We need a recipe guide or cook book for the programs.  It doesn't have to be this one but there needs to be something for it.    I don't think we have enough time to get a holiday cookbook out and the other programs allow us to provide something to our partners all year round.  This is a win/win/win for us.  We have a great product to provide customers to introduce new people to LE, the coaches and fitness pros have a program they can run to make money and have a better business/deliver better results, and the clients get the reward of being exposed to LE and some quality nutrition programs.   If we rush the cookbook out and it is less than the quality we would expect it sets the bar pretty low for what our partners would expect from us in a product in the future.  I would rather be patient and give them something really valuable than rush something out to make a few bucks.
