Fitbit API integration with other devices

Did FITBIT exposes the api to integrate with other devices? If yes then how the data will communicate from the device to the fitbit server? I think the data can be accessed from the fitbit server using their exposed API but how the data would be sent to the fitbit server from other devices? Please advice.
