Hey Em and Jodie-
Thanks you guys for all your ideas.
i feel motivated to go walk tomorrow while Aaron is in
school. Then I need to be motivated to get up at 6am
to go to the gym before Brian goes to work on Tuesday.
We'll see....anybody have any ideas for a good diet?
I was looking at Oprah's best diet web site ( actually
it's Bob Greenes best diet). It looked ok, but there
isn't alot of dairy options, which is something I need
while I'm nursing. I wish that I could just zap all
this extra baby fat away.

aunt Pam I'm a little confused about what to next
with the exercise forum.....do the groups need to
email, call each other to set up names etc.?
Well the little eating machine is telling me it's time
for his pre-bedtime snack!!!!! Have a great Week.

Heather,
I don't think you're really supposed to "diet" while you're nursing, or
worry too much about losing. You need those extra 300 calories a day, so I
say work out to feel better, and eat as healthfully as you need to nurse
well. Watch those simple carbs (white bread and pasta); there's a great
bread out that has 5 grams of fiber in each slice, and also has Omega 3 and
DHA - all things that are great for your little guy. Peanut butter is great
protein, and low in sugar (and it's good fat, so don't worry about that
part). Low fat cottage cheese is great with no sugar added canned peaches
(or fresh fruit or tomatoes). Breyers has a light, probiotic yogurt that I
really like. Cheese may have some fat, but it has no carbs and has the
calcium you need for nursing. You can't go wrong with raw broccoli and
cauliflower (which you can get already washed and bagged) with a low fat
ranch dip, or in a salad with bagged spinach. Throw some almonds or walnuts
on there, and you're getting even more of those good fats. Cool whip makes
a good sweet-tooth alternative, b/c it's low in sugar, carbs and fat, and
you can't each much at once (it's so rich). You could put it on sugar free
pudding or jello. I also like this recipe:
1 large bowl of cool whip (not light)
1 small bowl of cottage cheese
1 3 oz. package of sugar free jello (your favorite flavor)
1 can of crushed pineapple, drained
1 small bag of chopped pecans

Combine together and enjoy. It's rich and yummy, and not too bad in sugar
and carbs.

Hope this helps!

Jodie

Heather,
The only other thing I would suggest is to jsut give your MD a
call...especially if you have a good relationship with him/her and ask
for a nutrition consult. Insurance usually covers this at least the
first 3 visits. This way you can talk to an expert who can give you
some options and help you feel comfortable selecting food without
worring about not getting Brayden what he needs. I have had a few
colleagues do this and they found it helpful especially because it is
someone who's a neutral party.
How did things go today?
Em
