I think that the theme of the story Fish Cheeks is to be proud of your
culture even if your afraid that other people might think that its
weird and unnatural. Throughout the story Amy goes to being ashamed
from then becoming proud once she becomes older and then understands
what her mother talked to her about. Even though Amy does want to be
an American girl she should just be proud and happy knowing that she
is unique and different by having a another culture that is Chinese
and not American.
