Characterization is the process by which the writer reveals the personality of a character.

In this discussion group you will be analyzing the characters in your story. Use CHARACTERIZATION ELEMENTS to guide you in analyzing the characters in your story.

Choose 1-2 characters to analyze, and then respond to the following questions in your discussion post.

  1. Which characters did you choose?
  2. What do these characters look like?
  3. How do these characters act?
  4. How do other characters in the story react to this character?
  5. How does this character change throughout the story?

Once you post your own discussion you MUST respond to another person's discussion post. To respond you may elaborate on something they said, make a personal connection with what they wrote, make a literary connection (from text to text), or ask higher level thinking questions (analysis, synthesis and evaluative) to clarify and elaborate.

All responses must be positive and respectful of others. Any postings that do not follow WINGS will be deleted. Thank you for your positive and well thought-out discussion participation!!

I chose Amy as my character to analyze. Amy is Asian, there is no
further description. She acts very ashamed of her Asian culture. The
American people who come over to her house are weirded out by her
different culture. This character goes from ashamed to happy to be
different.

I chose Amy to post about because she is described the most and she is
ashamed to be Chinese and is sad because she thinks the boy will be
freaked out by her culture, but at the end she is proud of her
heritage.

I chose the Character Amy because she is my favorite and the main character. Amy dose not feel good about her Asian heritage at the start of the story then towards the end of the book Amy feels better about her heritage and accepts that is part of her. She ends up very proud at the end of the story and that is that character change. AS u can see that is why i picked Amy as my character.

I chose Amy as my character to analyze. The only thing that we have
been able to conclude about Amy's appearance is that she is a Chinese
girl. Through out the story Amy is very worried about the behavior of
her family, but at the end she realizes that her family is different
then other peoples and there is no shame in that.

The character that I choose was Amy and she is a shy chinese girl. Her
mom reacts to her by saying that you cant always be someone else on
the outside. Amy changes though the story from wanting to be an
american girl to who she rely is.

I would have to agree with you Rianna though for a better description
of Amy you could have said how She has a huge crush on the Ministers
son, which is a American blond haired boy that she is afraid won't
like her family culture.

In the story fishcheeks there are two characters, one is an chinese girl named Amy and the other is an american boy. This is all i know about the characters looks.amy is acting embarrased of her culture when an american family came to have christmas dinner together. the american boy acted weirded out when he saw the chinese cultureand how the chinese did things.amy's mom tells amy thatshe needs to be proud of who she really is and she if perfect no matter what her  culture is.amy learns that she doesnt need to change because she is perfect the way she really is these are the characters i chose, how they acted , and how they changed throught the story.
