I think the plot of Fish Cheeks is that Amy, a young Chinese girl has
a crush a the ministers son and when the ministers family is invited
over for dinner Amy is ashamed of the way her family acted. All
reaching across the table using there chopsticks to grab food and ect,
but at the end of the day Amy learns from her mother and father that
it is important to stay true to her culture and beliefs and that she
may want to change on the outside, but on the inside she will always
be Chinese. She learns to understand that she shouldn't have to
change to get the approval of anyone else.
