thanks Dean,
it sounds like it's a "go" then! I just ordered 5 r2 feeding wands from www.thefishguy.org. I am excited to try all of this out this fall! I will be sure to provide links to the students' videos...I will have a lot videos more this time, as I was told to anticipate two sections of the course...which is fine by me. This is one of the most enjoyable courses I've ever taught...teaching people to train fish is a lot of fun.

thanks again!
Rus

    Rus,

My son and I have taken turns training the same fish in the past. He was
pretty young at the time, and had trouble getting the timing right. I think
if you've got mature students, it shouldn't be a problem to have more than
one student perform the role of trainer. Especially if you're using Bettas,
which are reasonably slow and methodical.

Good luck, and be sure to share your students' videos!

I ran into a bit of a problem. I had to cancel my order with the
company I had ordered the target wands from, as they are out of stock
and unable to replenish them.I had better order them direct from the
R2 fish school!

I ordered the feeding wands from R2 Fish school, and we're now 6 days into the project. It took no time at all for the 5 female bettas to associate the wand with the food.  We are encountering some difficulties with bubbles in the wand, so I'm having the students submerge the wands first. It is difficult to "burp" the wands with the small pellets we're using with the bettas. Today, the students introduced the hoops. Results are encouraging so far...several fish went through the hoops to be reinforced with the wands. Students are recording each training session in preparation for a final video project we'll share.
