Mark and Tony's ride in 2018

Dear Riders of the Institute

The T&MRSC (Tony and Mark's Ride Sub-committee) has met and the date for the 2018 Tony and Mark's Ride has been set.  The ride will be on

 Saturday 29th 

December 2018

This ride has now been going for many years and remains popular with both Tour de Lygon and Flemington Institute of Sport (Elite) riders. Enquiries have been flooding in asking for the date.

For newcomers who have not done this ride before a map of the course is attached.  

We meet near The Baths Restaurant at Sorrento and leave at 9.00am.  The route is Pt Nepean Road to Dromana, Arthurs Seat (a nice little three or four km climb), Red Hill, Flinders, through Cape Schanck and along Boneo Road to Rosebud and then back to Sorrento along Pt Nepean Road. The distance is 83 km and there is about 900 metres of ascent.  

We stop at the Flinders Bakery for coffee where service can be a little slow. 

 

 

  

We arrive back at Sorrento

 at about 12.30 - 1.00.  If you fancy a sprint finish there is usually an extended sprint for the last 4 or 5 km before Sorrento.  Mark usually leads the sprint with a 5km effort at threshold power.   

The post ride lunch arrangement is the same as the last few years. It will be at Itali.co http://italicosorrento.com/ which is just along from The Baths restaurant at the beginning of the Esplanade near the Ferry terminal entrance. 

We have made a booking for 20 sweaty cyclists for 1.00 pm and will make any necessary adjustment to the numbers during the ride.
