Message from Amy

Every Sunday there will be programming for children at First Parish.  On Columbus Day weekend instead of RE classes we will be creating a life-sized board game with the Kindergarten through 7th graders.  If you are in town over this holiday weekend, I hope that your family will come.  The rules of the game depend on your creative ideas and participation.  Little RE will also be available for our youngest children.  If you have any questions, concerns, bright ideas or would like to introduce yourself, please email me: afre...@firstparish.org

Warmly,

Amy

Building a Life-sized Game this Sunday

Children in K-7 begin in the service with their families.   Following our Children’s Message, children leave the Sanctuary for the Chapel with Peter Bowden, Amy Freedman, Dawn Van Patten, and teen assistants. Instead of RE classes, we will have a special activity this Sunday to build community among our Kindergarten through 7th graders.  We'll be making and playing a giant First Parish Concord board game.  That's right, we're making a life size game, complete with giant dice, special game spaces, fun question cards, and more.   Hope your kids can join in the fun!  Parents of children Kindergarten- 3rd Grade are asked to pick up their children in the Chapel.  Older children and youth will be dismissed to Coffee Hour.

Little RE this Sunday

Our youngest children (0-4 years) will play in a caring environment with time for making friends, reading stories, playing outdoors, eating snack, and craft projects.  Parents are invited to bring their children to the lower level classroom fifteen minutes before worship service begins (9:45 a.m.).  Parents and guardians of preschoolers are asked to pick up their children by 11:15 a.m.

Milldam Play Yard Guidelines

Just a friendly reminder that the play yard equipment belongs to Milldam Nursery School and is designed for young children.  They have graciously allowed us to use the playground on Sunday mornings.  The play yard will be opened on Sunday mornings weather permitting and closed by noon.  Our RE program is held from 9:45 am-11:15 am.   RE teachers, staff and teen assistants will monitor the playground during class time for children up to 2nd grade.  During coffee hour, parents and guardians are asked to supervise their children on the playground.   Children who are above 8 years old are not allowed on the playground as the equipment is designed for early childhood education.  Thanks!

Halloween Costume Drive

Many families can’t afford costumes for their children.  Our collection will support Pumpkin Patch, a program that helps low income families get free costumes in Lowell.  Please donate your gently used costumes!  A donation bin is in our Coat Room until October 16th.  For more info, check out their website, http://www.fromthepumpkinpatch.org/About.html or just ask Margot Venesy or Ainsley Haut (5th graders here at FP)

Concord Area CROP Walk

Sunday, October 25, 1:30p.m.

CROP Hunger Walks are "Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty"—neighbors walking together to take a stand against hunger in our world.  This is a good way for families to take action together.  Please consider walking and/or collecting donations. Funds raised by the Concord Area CROP Walk go to Church World Service (CWS) for worldwide emergency relief.  In addition, one quarter of funds raised provide contributions to the ten local supper/food pantry programs that we support.  Our 6th and 7th Grade Neighboring Activists are taking part in the Banner Contest and walking.  For more information or to register, check out Concord Crop Walk
