Little OWL for 1st graders
Parent/Child Orientation Saturday, March 28 2 p.m.- 4 p.m.
First Parish has a very exciting new RE opportunity for our children! We are offering Little OWL (Our Whole Lives) for children in 1st grade.
OWL is a comprehensive, age-appropriate sexuality education program that embodies our UU values, and is based on the philosophy that parents are the most important educators. The curriculum includes discussions about bodies, safety, families, relationships, and babies, as well as sheets for related home discussions (each week).
This is a voluntary program with the goals to provide accurate developmentally appropriate information, increase self-esteem, develop interpersonal skills (such as communication, decision making, and problem solving), and teach responsibility for personal health and safety. We also want to help you become a more ask-able parent.
You & your 1st graders will have the opportunity to learn more, and get to know other parents and OWL teachers, Lora Venesy and Jan Goddard-Taylor. At the end of the session, you can choose whether it is right for your family. If you decide not to have your child participate, he/she will be included in another RE class during the 6 week program.
