Volunteers Needed to Supervise Teens Providing Childcare
We would like to compile a list of adults who are willing to be contacted to supervise our teens while they provide childcare during church events. Adding your name to the list will not commit you to any specific event, rather, you will be contacted on a case-by-case basis and can volunteer when it fits in your schedule. Ideally the list of potential volunteers will be long, so that each individual's time commitment will be minimal. If you are willing to add your name to this list of adult supervisors, please email Bridget Neale Paris, bridgetn...@gmail.com. Thank you!
Several events by and about women, peace and justice have been planned for the month of May!
All members and friends of First Parish are invited to join us for these thought provoking and celebratory programs:
Saturday, May 2nd at 7:30 p.m. - Deborah Jiang Stein,
Author of Prison Baby and founder of the unPrison Project. Deborah was born in prison, & spent the first year of her life in solitary confinement with her mother, before being adopted into a middle-class Jewish family. Her realization of her beginning, led to a tumultuous adolescence and beyond. She is a dynamic speaker and travels around the U.S., speaking to women in prisons, colleges, and other large venues, to promote awareness of the issues surrounding women and incarceration. Proceeds will benefit the unPrison Project- her non-profit that educates and empowers women in prison.During the second half, Deborah will be interviewed by our own Representative Cory Atkins, who has worked diligently to advocate for women. Tickets- $10 –Available at coffee hours or at the door. There will be a book signing after. This event is appropriate for older teens and adults.
Saturday, May 9th, 7 p.m. - Lunafest Film Series returns!
This is a juried Women’s Film Festival to benefit Jhamtse Gatsal and the Breast Cancer Fund. Films made by women all over the world were submitted and chosen for this year’s Lunafest.
