In this RE Announce:
Homecoming Sunday was a special day. I was deeply moved to worship with such a vibrant UU community. The picnic was a good opportunity to meet and get to know some of the kids. Our group art project of hands will be beautiful! I enjoyed seeing the many different ways the kids traced and colored their hands. As dusk fell, we played a ball toss game on the terrace.
Dawn and I led a Teacher Orientation on Saturday, 9/12. I was impressed with the thoughtfulness and caring of our parent volunteers who will be offering the Fall Term of RE classes. More than teaching content, our program is about building community, exploring ideas, giving spiritual and ethical tools that kids can use in their daily lives, and having fun together. RE Classes Start on Sunday!
Children in Kindergarten through 7th grade begin in the service with their families. Following our Children’s Message, children leave the Sanctuary for their classroom with their teachers. This year, all RE classes are held until 11:15am. Parents of children Preschool- 3rd grade are asked to pick up their children in their classrooms listed below. Older children and youth will be dismissed to Coffee Hour.
What’s Happening This Sunday:
Little RE – Lower Level
Our youngest children (0-4 years) will play in a caring environment.
Kindergarten Class – Lower Level
Through Spirit Play, this class will learn about our Flaming Chalice.
1st Grade Class – Lower Level
Through Spirit Play, this class will learn about the Water Ceremony.
2nd Grade Class – Ripley Room
3rd Grade Class – Greeley Room
“We Are All One” – Through a story and activities, this session celebrates our interconnections with one another and the Earth.
4th Grade Class – Bulkeley Room
5th Grade Class – Brooks Room
“Getting to Know You” – Through games and sharing this session will start to build community.
6th-7th Grades – Emerson Room
As “Neighboring Activists”, our youth will get to know one another and begin planning how they will take action and make a difference together.
8th Grade Drama Program – Parish Hall, 4:00pm
Our first session will include fun theatre games and explore what type of show we might create together.
9th Grade – Coming of Age Opening Reception, Parents & Youth Attend, 4:30pm, Sanctuary
9th-12th Grade –Youth Group, 7:00pm in the Loft
First Parish Moms’ Night Out Gathering, 9/25
The First Parish Moms’ Night Out (MNO) is hosting a Back-to-School Gathering on Friday, September 25 at 7:30pm. Come join other FP moms as we kick off the school year at the home of one of our members. All FP Moms are invited! You can also join the MNO Listserv by sending an email to valvall...@gmail.com
