Hi All,
Here's a reminder of two fun singing opportunities at First Parish this weekend:
Rise Up Singing: Friday night, July 28 at 7:30 pm. - on the patio if nice weather, otherwise in the Parish Hall
This is our monthly song circle using the many lyrics in Rise Up Singing and Rise Again. It's open to singers and instrumentalists of all ages and you are welcome to bring guests! Very informal and inclusive.
It's a good idea to bring bug spray if we are outside. After sunset, the mosquitos tend to come out.
Midsummer Pop-Up Choir - Sunday, July 30. 8:45 social time/9:00 rehearsal/10am service.
This will be a fun, on-time commitment choir for all ages. We'll meet at 8:45 (on the patio if it's nice weather, otherwise in the Emerson Room) for snacks, then learn two songs to sing in the service: "I'm gonna Lift My Sister Up" and "I Need you to Survive." Both are learnable in a very short time, with repeating words. Rev. Althea Smith, our summer minister, especially requested the second one.She will be preaching that day. I hope to get an intergenerational group together to do this. Hymns are also familiar: Woyaya and We Are A Gentle Angry People. Bring the whole family! And houseguests! Dress is "come as you are." Again, very informal and inclusive.
Here are links to the two songs we're singing on Sunday, just to give you an idea. Some of you may have sung these before.
