If you are reading this message only through the Choir Google Group today, please fill out this sign up form, so you can receive the new and improved Morning After Message that comes over Mailchimp. I will stop sending it through the google group after February 22 (or whenever everyone has moved over!).
Dear Choir,
It was good to be back in the Sanctuary for rehearsal last night – though I confess it took me awhile to remember all the adaptations we make for that space. It’s been 3 months! Thank you to all who helped get it set up. Thank you to Barry and Carolyn for quickly pivoting to pass out music in music slots. And to Rick for setting up the sound. We have an eclectic mix of music coming up this month. You did great with the a capella arrangement of “This is Me.” Please see below for the links to an audio recording AND the very compelling YouTube trailer from “The Greatest Showman.” We are singing this on 2/26 at the request of CB Beale, our guest preacher this week and on the 26th. Listening to the arrangement will be helpful in learning it.
Reminders for Sunday, February 5:
9:15 (promptly!) – Warm up in the front of the Sanctuary
9:45 - Break
9:55 – Gathering Hymn
10:00 – Service.
Wear: All black with colored scarf or tie
Music:
I am Willing
Show us How to Love
I am the Calm (instead of Spirit of Life)
Hymn #347 Gather the Spirit
Hymn #318 We Would Be One
Hymn #1012 When I am Frightened
Announcements:
The Memorial for Peggy Gallo will be on Thursday, February 9 at 11:00 am. My plan is for us to sing “As Torrents in Summer” and the Benediction. Also some hymns TBD. More information to come. We have 20 singers signed up, which is great. And there’s still room if you haven’t signed up. We received a lovely condolence note from Sally Brandon Bemis on behalf of the Pastoral Care Lay Ministry team. We were Peg’s family in many ways. It was nice to have that named.
From Joy, Pam, Sally & Tammie: The Nashoba Valley Chorale is pleased to announce The Chariot Jubilee – Celebrating Black Composers, featuring music by the 18th century Brazilian composer José Maurício Nunes Garcia and several contemporary Black American writers. Performances are February 4 at the Acton Congregational Church and a pay-as-you-can concert on February 5 at the Groton Dunstable Performing Arts Center. For details and tickets, visit nashobachorale.org.
RUTTER REQUIEM! – we have a date! The plan is to build the worship service around it on Sunday, April 30. Please also reserve Saturday morning, April 29 for rehearsal with instruments. I am so pleased to have this on the calendar!! So please, put it on yours!!
Music Links for your edification and pleasure:
This is Me is one of our anthems for 2/26. Here’s a link to the recording I played for you last night of the a capella version we’re singing. And here’s the very moving trailer from “The Greatest Showman.”
Rutter Requiem info: This is the link to the choir website with all the information I put together about the Requiem back in 2020. The site is still under re-development, but this page should work.
Virtual Choir Folder: Please bookmark this link if you haven’t done so already. Or, make it a favorite or just save this email!! This is especially important if you plan to be attending rehearsals on Zoom because I post scores in this folder. It also contains the attendance sheet.

Airqueen Masks: Here’s a link to the website for the Airqueen masks that I recommend. https://airqueen.com/ I also have some in the office if you’d like to try one out. We continue to mask when singing, no matter what the location in the building.
