Monthly Report for August, 2010
===============================

Members and advisers,

This is a report of work in progress, completed work, and financial
statements of The Fireworks Project for the month of August, 2010.

Finances
--------

[Balance Sheet -- Google Spreadsheet](https://spreadsheets.google.com/

There were no changes to our financial status in August.

Work In Progress
----------------

* Since the beginning half of August we have had a new website that is
the start of defining who we are and what we're doing. It's a start,
but we still have a lot more discussion of our business model that
needs to be hashed out. So, our 0.1 launch is more than just the
website. Please have a look at the discussions and get involved with
this initiative whenever you possibly can.

* The first iteration of the software for the Crown Construction pilot
program is done, though it still needs a lot of polishing. Crown
Construction had some specific requests in addition to some bugs and
usability issues that I already know we need to fix. Mike also made a
very thorough review of the application from his perspective.

I made a deal with Crown to continue to work on the application
through September, and then start charging our monthly service fee
beginning in October. The base price will be $20 per user/month and
will go up as we add features. This is a month later than what I told
you last month. The folks at Crown have had a busy summer season and
have not had a chance to evaluate the application.

* Amit and Igor have pledged to start work on a web application for
collaboration. This would really be a big leap forward for us when
they get it off the ground. Amit has been in touch me offline on
several occations and I know he is close to getting started, so look
out for some more traffic on these discussion threads.

* Mike is working on the layout and styling for the "Hacker's and
Hitchhikers Guide" with a few suggestions from Shawn and myself.

* Shawn has kept the package management discussion a priority. He
hashed out the beginnings of a protocol and may even have a working
prototype for us to start building with soon.

I'm continuing my ongoing theme of rewarding execution of ideas as a
top priority. So, members who execute can expect more points from me.

MIke O'Hara 11,000
I owe Mike the remaining of the 4% I pledged for submitting the
trademark application. He also did some great research on the topic,
so I think he deserves the full 7% I originally pledged to this
project.

Shawn Davis 3000
Shawn started a new milestone for his package manager prototype, so we
should see some code in the pipeline from him. Plus I added a little
extra because Shawn is so consistently generous with his points to
other members who get stuff done.

Amit Rawat 2000
Amit has been wrapping his head around Django and App Engine, and has
had lots of good questions for me, which is a good sign. You all
should look out for more production from him soon.

Igor 500
Igor is still hanging around and waiting for a chance to jump in on
the app that Amit will be starting soon, so I don't want him to come
away empty handed.
