I thought it would be a good idea to start doing a monthly round-up
for the Fireworks advisory board. As always, this is not intended as
a 1 way discussion, so comments and questions are encouraged.

The big news for April is that Fireworks officially exists as a
corporation under the laws of the State of Vermont... I always liked
Vermont anyway, so it seems fitting that we ended up incorporated in
that state.

The corporation will have no official members until we have existed
for 1 full fiscal year quarter. So, on October 1st, 2009 points will
be allocated and members will officially come into existence.

As the sole founder of the corporation, I will be responsible for
dishing out all of our points this coming October 1st. Until then I
want to keep a running tally of the points that all of us have earned
at the end of each month, so that we all know what to expect on
October 1st.

Work in Progress:

1. The main Fireworks website really needs to get some traction. We
have one designer, Martin Hipp, who has been working on it, but he
does not have a whole lot of time to dedicate to it. So, everyone
keep your eyes and ears open for graphic designers, especially those
with web design aspirations that can join the project and bang this
thing out.

2. In order to be fully transparent, we need a way to store
documentation online, including our incorporation documents. Ideally
this would be some sort of document server in "the cloud" that would
store documents just like a library, and anyone can search and view
them, whether they are a member or not. This library should be easily
linked to and navigated from the main Fireworks website.

3. Our main platform for application packages is still in the late
stages of alpha development, and I hope to have a "working mockup"
available for everyone to start playing with soon.

4. We need to have all of our collaborative systems in place as soon
as possible. This is a huge task, and will take a lot of trial and
error, since our organizational structure is so progressive. Members
of the company need to be able to work together on everything from
accounting to design. This is a big challenge technologically, but
there are also more "humanistic" challenges to collaborating primarily
through a wire rather than face to face.

5. Once we have some software to play with and a "front door" website,
we'll need to focus on building our communities. This will include
communities of advisors, testers, customers, developers, designers,
and probably a lot of other groups that I can't even think of at this
point.

Completed work:

1.Forming the Fireworks corporation
(although we still need to get a bank account and accounting system
set up)

2.A social gathering place for teachers (this will be the community of
users and testers for our educational software)

3.Discussion of organizational structure and ground-braking of the
Fireworks Project idea on this advisory board.

The points situation for the end of April:
(I'm going to adjust a percentage of all points for each of us at the
end of each month until October 1st, when they will all be
distributed.)

Martin Hipp: 5% of the total points
Martin has made a couple of wire frame mockups for the Fireworks
website.

Mike O'Hara: 25%
Mike has researched software and possible use cases within k-12
education (in the United States) and created a software feature
specification outlining his ideas for what a software package for
teachers should look like. Mike also contributed greatly to the
discussions that formed this company over the last few months.

Rebecca Gallo: 10%
Has contributed greatly to the discussions that formed this company
over the last few months with her background in software, health care
administration, and education... All despite her busy work schedule.

Kris Walker: 50% of total points
Started and contributed to the discussion and ideas that got this
company off the ground with this advisory board. Kris also did the
research, found the lawyers, and completed the process of
incorporation. In addition he did several wire frame mockups of the
Fireworks website, as well as logo design work.

Liz Walker: 10%
Did the conceptual research and design sketches for the Fireworks
logo.
