Monthly Report for July, 2010
=============================

Members and advisers,

This is a report of work in progress, completed work, and financial
statements of The Fireworks Project for the month of July, 2010.

Finances

There were no changes to our financial status in July.

Work In Progress
----------------

* We're working on 're-messaging' the content on our website to more
accurately communicate who we are and what we do. But our 0.1 launch
is more than just the website. Please have a look at the discussions
and get involved with this initiative whenever you possibly can.

* http://fireworksfactory.basecamphq.com/projects/3775079/milestones/15285423/comments#70864557

* The first iteration of the software for the Crown Construction pilot
program is done, though it still needs a lot of polishing. Crown
Construction had some specific requests in addition to some bugs and
usability issues that I already know we need to fix. Mike also made a
very thorough review of the application from his perspective.

I made a deal with Crown to continue to work on the application
through August, and then start charging our monthly service fee
beginning in September. The base price will be $20 per user/month and
will go up as we add features.

* Mike is in the process of re-submitting our trademark application.
The due date is approaching, and I'm sure he would appreciate some
feedback on what he has so far.

* Amit and Igor have pledged to start work on a web application for
collaboration. This would really be a big leap forward for us when
they get it off the ground.

* http://fireworksfactory.basecamphq.com/projects/3775079/milestones/15921649/comments

* Mike is working on the layout and styling for the "Hacker's and
Hitchhikers Guide" with a few suggestions from Shawn and myself.

* http://fireworksfactory.basecamphq.com/projects/3775079/todo_items/58831490/comments

* Shawn has kept the package management discussion a priority. He
hashed out the beginnings of a protocol and may even have a working
prototype for us to start building with.

Completed Work
--------------

* I completed the monthly report for June.

* Igor completed a set of illustrations for the slide show.

* I completed the first iteration of the software system for Crown
Construction.

* Mike completed a review of our trademark application.

* Shawn completed an early draft of a protocol for package management.

* Mike completed a technical review of the Crown Construction
application.

Mike O'Hara: 10,000
I promised 7% of my total points to the trademark application process,
and I'm giving 3% of that now, plus additional points for Mike's
review of the Crown Construction application.

Shawn Davis: 9,000
Mostly for continued work on package management.

Amit Rawat: 3,000
Amit has been starting and taking part in some important discussions,
as well as volunteering to work on our internal collaboration web
application. Welcome aboard Amit.

Igor Petrov: 3,000
Last month I gave 14,000 points to Igor, which included credit for his
slide show illustrations. Thanks again Igor. If anyone did not vote
points to Igor for his artwork last month, please consider it for this
month. I'm voting extra points to Igor this month because he has been
so generous with his points voting in past months, and because he
volunteered to help Amit with our collaboration application.
