Praying into the parades

Dear Firewall intercessors:

Sorry for the short notice!

The Neak Tha parades are here again - a time for the veneration of the mythic Chinese pantheon of gods - beginning either Friday March 2 or Saturday March 3 at O'Russey market.  I went by O'Russey earlier this week, and those I talked with seemed a bit vague about when exactly it would happen, though definitely that weekend.

Firewall friends, I need help - can anyone confirm which day it is?  Seems like it would fall on Saturday, right?

If I don't receive new information as to the timing, I plan to be there on Friday AND Saturday beginning at 8 am on top of the market (rooftop parking area) overlooking the crowd.  As in previous outreaches, we will probably begin together as one group to worship Jesus, and then break into smaller teams to pray on the street.

If you feel led to pray into this festival, for freedom and release of the Gospel into the Chinese-Cambodian community, let me know?

Known as the Hei Neak Ta, or Spirit Parade, the festival is held each year to mark the official end of the Chinese New Year celebrations in a uniquely Khmer manner. While the holiday is known as the Lantern festival in other parts of Asia, and is celebrated solely on the 15th day of the lunar calendar, festivities in Cambodia can go on for three to four days and often feature elaborate parades with a wide range of spirit mediums.

I'm grateful that you are taking this on . . . thanks for calling us to prayer on this critical day!

The parade always launches on the morning of the full moon, which is Friday, March 2, starting at about 8:00 am.

I will be in PP on business that day and would be interested in joining you if a handful of others commit to it. Let me know by Thursday morning if it looks like there will be at least 4 or 5 others joining in and I'll try to squeeze this into my schedule.

I received a love for the Chinese-Cambodian folks around O'Russey through you, brother!  I will let you know if others are interested - so far it looks like just you and me.  There are some that would like to come but their M-F work schedule prohibits this.

Also, I will look for the Facebook video - is it the one that John Harrill put together a few years back?

I will be there from around 7:00 to 9:30 . . . hoping to touch base with a few "friends" before we meet on the roof!

The video Loralie plans to post on the Firewall FB page is a new video just for this event. Hoping she can do it in time.

She was originally thinking about doing a FB Live event during this but I've never done one and don't know if we can pull that off this time. Anyone have experience with that? I think the technical side of things isn't too hard, but planning and advertising it.

Thanks I got it and forwarded it to the leader earlier today. 

I saw her tonight and didn't have a chance to ask if she was going and she didn't mention it, so my guess is not if you don't get a call from her.

Please pray and believe with me and my church plant team. We went to the night market tonight, as we do every Thursday and we prayed for a man's arms to grow out. A couple of the team saw it grow a little bit. Praise the Lord. We'll keep going back and praying every week. Please pray he comes to church and receives spiritual healing. Although, his face lit up when he said Jesus and he said he's a Christian so maybe he already is. Our translator said she wasn't sure he understood much, so also pray for healing there too.

Thanks everyone for praying!

Here's an update from the time from my perspective.  Dale, Zoran and Margaret, Ryan and I began with prayer, worship, and some time in the scriptures.  A song came to mind "Oh Lord You're beautiful, Your face is all I see; and when Your eyes are on this child, Your grace abounds to me" - I believe God gave us grace to see people...to truly see them.  In the thick of the raucous parade, we prayed, worshiped and connected with people.  We experienced joy in our Jesus and I believe He ministered in and thru us.  

One young man asked me what I thought of the event, and I said I was so, so sad.  These people, totally loved by God, were calling upon evil spirits / demons and bringing curses and death upon themselves.  The Neak Tha / spirit mediums' blood brings death; Jesus' blood brings true, forever life.  Don't forget...don't forget Jesus!

And there are many more vignettes I'm sure we could share.  Dale, Zoran and Margaret, and Ryan:  If you have stories to share, please do so.  Also, if any of you in the Firewall network received insights or scriptures from the Lord, please share?  Again, thank you for linking arms with us in prayer!

Please continue to pray for this people segment - the Chinese Cambodian families of O'Russey market area!
