POSITION OVERVIEW
The Coalition of Communities of Color (CCC) seeks a new member of its team to lead our data and research strategy. The Researcher implements culturally-appropriate data and research projects that advance racial justice. Specific near-term strategic objectives
include implementing a community-based participatory research project into the lived realities of communities of color in Washington County, Oregon; providing technical assistance to a cohort of community-based organizations working to close opportunity gaps;
and establishing a racial justice research center at the CCC. This is a new position for the CCC.
We seek a Researcher who shares our values and frames about the power of data and research: culturally-appropriate data and research build important knowledge bases from which to educate and to advocate; data that informs decision-making should adequately capture
the lived experiences of communities of color; research should be undertaken through meaningful engagement of those most impacted by the subject of the research; datasets should be culturally-responsive and comprehensive; research development processes should
be structured to build power and eliminate inequities; and culturally-appropriate data and research can change discourses, build capacity, develop community, leverage resources and create new policy environments.
ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
The mission of the CCC is to address the socioeconomic disparities, institutional racism, and inequity of services experienced by our families, children and communities; and to organize our communities for collective action resulting in social change to obtain
self-determination, wellness, justice and prosperity. Formed in 2001, the CCC is an alliance of culturally-specific community based organizations with representation from the following communities of color: African, African American, Asian, Latino, Native
American, Pacific Islander, and Slavic. The CCC supports a collective racial justice effort to improve outcomes in education and community and economic development through policy analysis and advocacy, culturally-appropriate data and research, and leadership
development in communities of color. For more information, please visit www.coalitioncommunitiescolor.org.
