The Center for Medicine, Health, and Society (MHS) in the College of Arts & Science at Vanderbilt University has the following job opening:

Senior Lecturer of Medicine, Health, and Society

The Center for Medicine, Health, and Society (MHS) in the College of Arts & Science at Vanderbilt University invites applications for the position of Senior Lecturer (non-tenure-track).  Interdisciplinary educators with expertise in intersectional research on women and girls of color and health, health politics and infrastructures, critical health studies, epigenetics and health, or historical approaches to race/racism and health are particularly invited to apply. Primary responsibilities include teaching (3-3 load is traditional for Senior Lecturers) and mentorship in undergraduate programs, participating in multidisciplinary research teams, and helping to build connections between MHS, the Vanderbilt Medical Center, and the Nashville community at-large.

MHS is an innovative multidisciplinary research and teaching center that applies humanities and social science methods to biomedical questions. Review of applications will begin on January 6, 2016 and continue until the position is filled. The two-year appointment will begin fall 2016.  Ph.D. required by the time of appointment. The final candidate for this position must successfully complete a background check. Vanderbilt University is committed to recruiting and retaining an academically and culturally diverse community of exceptional faculty.  Vanderbilt is an AA/EO employer and particularly encourages applications from members of underrepresented minority groups women.  Applications, including a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, information on teaching effectiveness, and a brief sample of scholarly writing, should be addressed to Jonathan Metzl, Chair, MHS Search Committee, and submitted as a single pdf file via email to m...@vanderbilt.edu. Please add the applicant’s last name and “MHS Lecturer Application” to the subject line. Three letters of recommendation should be sent separately, either via email or to the mailing address posted on the MHS website. More information about MHS can be found via our website, http://www.vanderbilt.edu/mhs.
