Murawin has partnered with ICIN to support a series of dedicated workshops to collect feedback from First Nations people to inform the Climate Change Authority's Annual Report and policy review.
This is the beginning of CCA’s work with First Nation peoples. They would like to gain a deeper understanding and listen to your voice on climate change and what it means for you - for example.
“What climate change impacts are First Nations people observing and experiencing in their local areas?”
“What impacts and changes do First Nations people see occurring into the future?”
“What are the barriers and challenges they are experiencing?”
“What can government do better regarding climate change for First Nation people?”
If you are a First Nations person or representative from an Indigenous organisations,
please sign up here to attend a 1 hour online workshop over the next two weeks.
2. Climate Change Authority Climate Change Legislation Review
A review of current climate change legislation is also seperately underway through the CCA. Anyone interested to participate in the Climate Change Authority's Review on Setting, tracking and achieving Australia’s emissions reduction targets can visit its consultation page, here.
The Australian Council of Social Services is developing the multi-year campaign and an accompanying policy Blueprint to advocate to the Federal Government for policy reforms that rapidly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote fairness and inclusiveness in climate change policy. ACOSS are especially interested in hearing issues for First Nations peoples and communities, to ensure their needs and concerns are included in the advocacy campaign and policy Blueprint.
First Nations stakeholders are invited to an online session on Friday 23 June 10:00am - 1:00pm AEST. ACOSS want to hear your concerns and proposals to make sure these considerations are included in the advocacy campaign.
Workshop: First Nations stakeholders
