Dear community and colleagues,
Federal and State Government - Joint Media Announcement
The $44 million Aboriginal-owned Assets Program (AoAP) was launched on 02 March 2023 by the NSW and Australian Governments through a joint media release (attached).
The AoAP supports Aboriginal communities that were impacted by the severe weather and flood events of February and June 2022 (AGRN 1012 and AGRN 1025). The program is specifically designed to focus on the social recovery (healing, well-being, resilience and prosperity) of directly damaged, Aboriginal-owned, and/or managed social infrastructure.
Aboriginal organisations in Local Government Areas (LGAs) that were disaster declared in these two events may be eligible to apply for AoAP funding.
The support will be targeted at the most flood-impacted Local Government Areas(LGAs)of: Ballina, Bellingen, Byron, Camden, Central Coast, Cessnock, Clarence Valley, Glen Innes Severn, Hawkesbury, Kempsey, Kyogle, Lismore, Muswellbrook, Nambucca, Narromine, Richmond Valley, Singleton, Tenterfield and Tweed.
