One month until Natural Hazards Research Forum

Come and contribute to the current state and future of natural hazards research in Australia at the 2023 Natural Hazards Research Forum in Melbourne, brought to you by Natural Hazards Research Australia.

Keynote speakers include Brendan Moon (National Emergency Management Agency) and Prof Daniel Aldrich (Northeastern University), with more to be announced soon. The program also includes yarning about First Nations research, and workshop streams centred around land-use planning and resilient recovery, flood and extreme weather risk mitigation, bushfire and prediction risk mitigation, and next generation capability.

Who should attend

Anyone who is interested in contributing to national conversations about natural hazards research is encouraged to attend.

This is an in-person event with some online access available.

Research with Impact: Provoke, Inspire, Challenge, Be Involved

The program includes engagement, discussion and knowledge sharing of the range of natural hazards research projects emerging from the Centre, across workshops and keynote, project and student presentations.

Sessions will cover the main projects across the Centre’s research program including disaster risk reduction and resilience, learning from recent disasters, evidence-informed policy and strategy, community resilience, healthy landscapes, situational awareness, operational response and innovation, workforces of the future and much more.

Registration

Registrations are now open (closing 11:59pm, 27 April 2023).

  • You can register for in-person or online attendance.
  • The Centre will cover registration for our funded researchers and representatives from our many participating organisations. See a list of participating organisations here (note that Collaborator organisations and researchers not directly associated with our projects are not included).
  • Representatives from non-participating organisations or Collaborators are welcome to attend. Registration costs are $440 per person or $165 per person for the online streamed section only.
  • All registrations options include three-day entry to the Forum, including a ticket to the public event with Prof Daniel Aldrich on Day 3.
