Linking to files?

Hey all -

All I want to do is link to files on my site that aren't put there by
the CMS. Specifially, I have audio files in an "audio" folder in what
seems to be the root folder of my site, but when I link to files that
I could listen to before I installed firerift, now it gives me a 404
and says nothing is there... what gives?

I'm no beginner when it comes to web stuff but I'm no pro either...
self taught so my knowledge has gaps in it, but I can't wrap my head
around why I would be getting a 404 at an address that definitely has
files there...
