access to sites changed since update

since updating from v 8.0 to v 8.0.1 Firefox no longer remembers my
email which is required to access some sites (password intentionally
not remembered). How can I revert to it remembering my email when I
type in the first letter or two of my email?

When you sign on to each site do yo get a banner asking if you want to
remember this password?

No

Only option given on the log-in window (i.e. emaiI & password
required) is a checkbox for remaining logged in
