1)
right-click  AutoFil /  AutoFill Options / Form Fields / Select Profile Address

See the column Values to Autofill?
Enter the appropriate Values for the entries you see.

Don't forget to hit the Save button!
The help button opens up more detailed information on adding fields

2)
Use the wizard a few times on sites you have register for.  After you have used the wizard a few times, Autofill will have enough information to help you fill in many of the forms you encounter.

To summon the wizard, simply right-click on any page with a form and select
Autofill  / Add Rules for this Form... from the context menu.

The wizard should appear; just follow the instructions and the autofill rules should be created for you automatically. The next time you load that page, the form should be autofilled with the data you defined. If you want to create an autofill rule for one particular form field only, then right-click inside that field and select Autofill / Add Rule for this Field.

3)
For some fields, take advantage of Firefox autocomplete

more information is here: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Form autocomplete

4)
There are certain cases were you don't want autofill.  Filling in fields for your contacts in email and messaging is on of these times.
One thing you can do is bring up the Addons Manger (from the Firefox menu or CTRL + SHIFT + A) and simply disable Autofill when doing your contact maintenance.  The Autofill way of doing this is to add an Exception from the Autofill Options page

Here is an example of an exception that works for me with Hotmail as of Oct 24, 2011

I set a profile last night with all the usual fields - first name, last name, address, city. But it only seems to work when I do right click -> Execute Profile -> and select the name of the profile (I don't mind that part, but the reading I did said it would fill in fields automatically, without even a click). But what's worse is it doesn't fill in the values I set for first name or last name at all. What can I do to get it to run those?

to Autofill Firefox Add-on, gary.jo...@gmail.com

I used to have my username and password auto-filled and now it will not.  I go into options and click the button to "remember search and form history" and click it on and save it but when I exit FFox it does not stay.

Can someone help me?

Thanks.
