Brand new version based on new Firefox debugging API (JSD2) also with UI design improvements!

http://bit.ly/1g1q5n0

Give it a try and let us know how it works for you!

Congratulations to all the team!

It's exciting to see the new version coming, but you should understand that those of us that rely on Firebug might be a little worried and might prefer to wait a little before doing such a big jump.
Nevertheless, I will try to test it as soon as I get a little confidence that no big problems are reported :-)
Maybe 2 or 3 days because I really want to try it, it just depends on my tasks.

Thanks for your understanding

Is it normal that I can't install it on aurora ? ("not compatible with aurora 30.0a2")

Please try it again. Now it should be compatible with Aurora 30.0a2.

Question, does it support source maps yet like the built in Firefox one and choke developer tools yet? (For debugging less/sass files).

I had to stop using it for that reason!

Not yet, but it's on our todo list. See issue 5765.

It works now, thanks !

I have a bug with addons that use bottom panels, adblock does this as well, but not firefox dev tools, I can't find anything on bugzilla...
Resizing the panel up and down will always keep the maximum size ever given.
Hard to explain but hopefully the screenshot (http://imgur.com/X86eRBj) will help you understand what I mean.
Do you by chance know what would cause that ?

Sure we understand that

Note that you can create a separate Firefox profile and install Firebug 2 in it without any worries that you will broke your current development profile.

You can take a look at:

I can't reproduce that, but does it happen if you install Firebug into a clean Firefox profile?

Sorry for the false alarm, it was caused by Lazarus, I'll let them know.

Oh, thanks, I didn't know which keyword to look for.
Too bad this fixed version is not on AMO.

We'll start uploading to AMO as soon as we switch to beta phase - to update AMO beta users.
We want to do it soon, that's why we need feedback...

The final Firebug 2.0 release is planned at the same time as Firefox 30 release

I was saying that for Lazarus, not Firebug :)

But back to topic, I don't notice any bug so far, except a translation typo in french, in system tabs "Le code source du système n epeut être débogué" should read "Le code source du système ne peut être débogué".
I'll report back if I find anything.
By curiosity do you plan to support pretty printing (for minified js) ?

Thanks for the note, I'll ping the localization team.

Yes

It won't be as great as we were originally planning since we are blocked by a platform bug (Bug 987536 - Script.getAllColumnOffsets() provides wrong offsets), but the basic support will be there :-)

I tried to contact the authors of Lazarus two times already, but they didn't answer.

The Firebug team have fixed that, but I never saw it. I run another
extension called checkCompatibility:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/checkcompatibility/

It turns off the compatibility checks, and lets me install extensions
regardless. If they don't, I can always uninstall them. but most do.

It might be worth adding to your toolbox.
