I hope this isn't a stupid question, but how can I disable a
single .js file or all .js ?

example
Brown set for showdown at conference
http://uk.reuters.com/article/domesticNews/idUKLJ44051620080920

reuters.com has at at least one thing that makes the HTML console
panel unusable since it forces the panel to be refreshed every few
seconds.

newsTicker2.js

The workaround I'm using now is to enable an Adblock Plus filter
*.js
to stop all scripts.

Sounds like you have a solution. Firebug does not provide any thing
similar.

There're many extensions that provide this feature: Preferences
Toolbar, Webdeveloper toolbar, NoScript, YesScript... The latter is
cute and simple: it does nothing else.
