IFrame Debugger Step-into

I am having trouble stepping into script functions in firebug 1.8.3 - triggered mostly when there are scripts loaded as part of iframe (in same domain). Problem does not always happen. However, once it starts, it continues randomly for all scripts. In order to report the problem, I need to isolate it but I am having trouble doing so.
Can you please suggest any pointers on what can cause debugger to not step-into functions that would help me isolate the problem and create a bug-report?
FYI, Chrome/IE8 debuggers do not exhibit similar problems for the same codebase.
I am running on ubuntu linux 11.04 running firefox 7.0.1. Problem happens even on windows 7 and firefox 5,6,7 and hence I believe it may not be tied to firefox/OS.

I believe this problem will be fixed in Firebug 1.9a4 (I hope to
release tomorrow).
