Just updated Firefox to 30 and Firebug to 2.
Display panel for Firebug has over high panes - See image

How to fix?

Have uninstalled and reinstalled but same problem.
Running on Xubuntu 12.04
Thanks

Do you have any other extensions installed? (there could be a collision)
Can you try to install Firebug into fresh/clean Firebug profile?

OK, Thanks.

Tried that - only have 4 extensions plus Firebug.
Installed them one by one in a new profile and Firebug displayed correctly before the others were installed and correctly after installing all the others.

Then went back to the original profile. removed them all, reinstalled Firebug and it worked correctly then reinstalled the first of the others - DoNotTrackMe. Firebug went back to the bad display. Removed it again and FireBug remained bad. So it looks as though that extension cannot get on with Firebug and even when it is removed it leaves Firebug in a bad way.

Any further ideas - obviously I can work with the alternative profile but it makes for an extra step when I want to work as a developer rather than as just a browser?

PS

They worked fine together before the update and seem to be happy in the new profile.

Can you try to compare both profiles and see differences?  Perhaps, you can find a clue...

Same problem here,
I've managed to track the problem down to the Theme Font & Size changer extension in Firefox.

I use the theme font & size changer extension all the time. If I get rid of it, all tabs and everything becomes too small to read. Is firebug going to work with this extension again? It worked with it just fine in the past and now all of a sudden ti doesn't.

Please create an issue for this, so we can have a look at it. You should also let the author of Theme Font & Size Changer know about the problem.

Just to note that I am getting the same issue. But I do not use Theme Font and Size Changer.

I'm attaching a screenshot.

I tried disabling all the firebug-specific settings in about:config, and disabling all other extension. Neither worked.

I have downgraded to 1.12.8b1 for now. (which works fine)

Running Debian/Jessie (with Firefox downloaded directly from the Mozilla site)

I've tried looking at the profiles - existing one and a new one created just for this purpose and it's a nightmare. There are dozens of files and while I can guess at the purpose of some, many are a mystery.

What does seem clear is that if Firebug is updated into an existing profile this problem occurs if there have been any other add-ons installed. If it's a new clean profile then it will work correctly until some other extension is added.

For the moment I have to work with 2 profiles, one with firebug alone for development purposes and the other with the other extensions for general browsing. This is not good

Sorry for the extremely late reply on this. For reference, as the FAQ to Firebug describes there are three other extensions causing this problem:
  • Lazarus: Form Recovery 2.3 ( seems to befixed in version 3.2)
  • Pentadactyl
  • Zotero
Also this may happen when you have Firebug attached to the top as described in issue 7717.
