I'm struggling with a Joomla template that I would like to edit. Firebugs tells me very nicely which part of the code I have to fight with but it doesn't tell me which file the code is in or the path to the file. Or does it? Have I missed something?

I'm not sure if you mean the HTML document you're editing, since it's obvious the page you opened Firebug on. For JS codes
running in/with your HTML page the files path is located on the toolbar of the script panel. For CSS files, the story is the same as script panel.
