Hi guys

Anytime I open Firebug for any website, no matter which one and press
reload, Firefox is becoming very very slow and crashes sometimes.

On my Windows machine, sometimes I have to call the task manager and
to kill the Firefox process so that I can browse again which isn't
good.

It's getting annoying and affects my web development works. Older
Firebug versions didn't have that issue.

Hope you can help me further or investigate that?

Cheers
Michael from www.binarykitchen.com

Here are some tips to check:

Do you have a test case that could be used by other to reproduce the
behavior?
Do you have any other Firefox/Firebug extensions installed in your
profile?
Do you see any errors?
Do you see the problem in a new fresh Firefox profile?
Do you see the problem with Firebug 1.9?

Hi Honza

Thanks for that. Check out my responses below:

behavior?

Any website! Just open Firebug console, for example www.binarykitchen.com and reload the same page. Will take ages and crashes a lot.

Do you have any other Firefox/Firebug extensions installed in your
profile?

Yes, these:
- YSlow
- AdBlock Plus
- FireGestures

Disabling these won't help, Firebug still crashes when I disable all AddOns.

Do you see any errors?

What do you mean? Firebug is frozen and can't look somewhere for errors.

Do you see the problem in a new fresh Firefox profile?

Don't know. Haven't tried that yet. What's the easiest way to create a fresh profile and to delete it afterwards?

Do you see the problem with Firebug 1.9?

I rather wait for the final release, then I'll install that.

You can check Firefox error console (Firefox menu -> Web Developer ->
Error Console)

Ah, I solved the problem myself. I had breakpoints and deleted the breakpoints/annotations JSON files in my profile directory and now all good.

Cheers

Any chance I could yet see the files?

Sure, what's your email address? Happy to send them to you. Don't want to publish these here ...

Hi Michael,

I just wanted to note, that in general you could also use the alpha and beta releases of Firebug without worries. We have a lot of unit tests, that guarantee, that existing features are not broken in a new release. Just in the case there's no automated test yet for some part of Firebug it could be, that a feature is broken when there were changes to it. Also using that versions you can help us with finding these uncovered errors.
Also I want to mention, that we have a page called I found a Firebug bug! for such cases, which helps you to either solve the problem by yourself or to create a proper test case.

Greetings from Regensburg

Sebastian
