Tried many Firebug versions and now I'm running 1.9.a3. Inexplicably,
for me at least, when I start Firebug I can not get to the section of
code that I need to Analise. After many attempt, I have created a
video to show Firebug behavior, that I've posted on my Ubuntu One
area: http://ubuntuone.com/471R5IgD1TYITLArumDHsi

The issue is that when I select an element of the page that I want to
see, as soon as I move the mouse to the lower region of the screen,
where FB is, the code changes... see the video to correctly
understand.

Regards,
Henry.

As far as I can see in the video the HTML panel correctly shows the
<table> element, but the content changes as soon as you click on the
table (within the page). Is that correct?

So, when you moving mouse down to where Firebug UI is the content is
already wrong...

I don't know what could be the problem, but the best first step would
be to make the page available to us co, we can reproduce it on our
machines.

I am seeing that the page comes from your local networks but, would it
be possible to turn it into a simple test case we can access?

Ok.
This time I placed a video of the issue with a public page:
http://cloud.ubuntu.com/2011/10/ubuntu-cloud-live/
Please find the video at: http://ubuntuone.com/471R5IgD1TYITLArumDHsi

Thanks,

What is happening is, that something else in the page is changing while you inspect the table. And I suppose you have the HTML Panel option Scroll Changes Into View checked, so the panel is scrolled there. Can you confirm that?

Honza, we should block this while inspecting.

Sebastian,

in both the example pages that I sent, there are no changing elements
(not even animated gif).

My fault that I have to confess, that I did not know about the HTML
Panel options. Effectively, I unchecked the "Scroll changes into
View", and it now seems to work fine.
Question: Is that option checked by default? 'cause I do not remember
activating it...

Anyhow, thanks for your support and patience.

Regards,
Henry.

Having a second look at your videos I saw, that there are elements with classes including "interclue", which I didn't have. So I did a quick search and found out, that this is another Firefox extension. And this extension is changing the website while hovering links. So Interclue is causing this behavior.

You're not the only one. We already had a long discussion about how to improve their visibility.

Great. You could further help us by creating a new issue mentioning, that highlighting changes, expanding them and scrolling to them should be blocked while inspecting plus adding a little test case with step by step instructions including the installation of Interclue. As soon as that issue is done then the problem you described should not appear anymore.

No, it is off by default.

Thanks for your report. We appreciate every user, that tries to help us improve our software.
