How can Firebug be turned off in Firefox? I had opened it to
experiment with a couple of websites. Now, whenever I look at any web
site which apparently has AJAX, the Firebug window opens
automatically. I just want to be able to shut it off when it's not
needed, and turn it one when it is.

Right now I am having to use IE because Firebug has made Firefox
virtually useless.

Thanks
Mike Thomas

What version of FB do you have installed? The behavior you're asking
for is the default behavior in 1.3+ (and I think also in 1.2.X).

A quick fix could be uninstall firebug if it's causing you so many troubles...

I don't know why it's popping up, but you may have selected "enable"
from the console tab dropdown, which changes the default behavior of
FB making it enabled for all sites. Just select "disabled" from that
dropdown and select "enable console for <SITE>" in each site you want
to use FB.

Hi Mike,

Just hit PF12 and click on the script tab and then choose disable.
Then restart your browser.

There is no reason to restart your browser if you select disable from
the script tab mini-menu.

The answer depends on how you enabled Firebug and which version. If
1.2+, then
1) Open Firebug and for each panel: Console, Script, Net, use the mini-
menu on the tab of the panel and select "Disabled".
2) Using any one panel, select "Sites..." from the mini menu, then
"Remove All" from the popup permissions dialog.

Many thanks all - using the mini menu did the trick.
