I just updated to version 1.6 and noticed this bug:

When I activate Firebug and go to the 'Script' tab, I get the "Script
Panel was inactive during page load" message. When I click 'Reload'--
either in the message body or in the Firefox toolbar--Firebug becomes
"inactive for the current Firefox tab." This of course means that the
'Script' panel was again inactive during page load and again fails to
load the script. The problem is that Firebug is becoming inactive
whenever I refresh the page.

This happens for all websites that I've tested, no matter which
Firebug panel is selected at the time of reload. Running Firefox
3.6.12, Win7

I have exactly the same problem as cbito, Firefox 3.6.12, Vista. I
tried the two solutions you suggested and they don't solve the
problem.

I desperately tried to find a solution for this issue mentioned by
cbito without success. I am reverting to older version while this
issue is addressed.

Thanks

Without your help we cannot fix this problem.

This is *not* a problem in Firebug itself, otherwise we would have
seen it or one of our beta users would have reported it.

This is a problem with some install or setting on your machine. One
user has already posted their info on
http://code.google.com/p/fbug/issues/detail?id=3724
If you do that as well we will be much closer to a fix.

Are you in private browsing mode? Or disabled history? That was my problem today.

Yes, in my old firefox profile I use private browsing. But with the
new/clean firefox profile with all the default settings I am not using
private browsing and history is not disabled, and the the problem is
still there. I would be happy to give as much information as possible.
In the new firefox profile I have no other extensions installed.

gmai,

Do you have any message in the Firebug Console when you first open the
page?

Are you using en-US firefox or a localized version?

Note that the problem on issue 3724 is diagnosed as
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Options%20window%20-%20Privacy%20panel#w_never-remember-history

Thanks John. It is the "private browsing" mode that caused my problem
in both the old profile with dozens of other extensions installed, and
the new profile with no extensions. Disabled the "private browsing"
mode and restarting removes the problem.
