Highlighting not working!

I recently started using Firebug and while it's a god send when I
watched tutorials on Youtube, I see when people mouse over things in
the web page then they are highlighted. That does not work for me, the
only time it will highlights is when I go into the Firebug window and
hover over a <div. Is there a way to change this?

Just to be sure:
Firebug > HTML Panel > click "Inspect", mouse over the page: blue
rectangles?
If not, my first suggestion is to install Firebug in a new profile and
try again. Could be interference with another extension.
