Firebug 2+ / Firefox 31 Stalls on Google

I'm running a Powermac with 8gb ram OS X 10.8.5. Firefox 31 with Firebug 2.0.3 stalls on Google. Performing any search results in a 3 - 5 seconds hang where browser is unresponsive. Normal operation resumes after hang.
