Firebug is evolving fast. So should do its website.
Take for example http://getfirebug.com/network. The network panel
shown in the screenshots is not looking like so at all anymore (see FB
1.5 or even 1.6) and several (new) features are not described like e.
g. the timeline info popup or the "Cache" tab for cached files etc.
Of course the wiki is free to be edited by the community, but there's
still a big gap of feature descriptions. And the persons, which know
best about the features of Firebug, are the developers themselves. I
already saw many issues at the Google Code pages of Firebug and also
some newsgroup entries, that could have been avoided, if the wiki
would describe Firebug's features (even hidden ones) and be more up-to-
date.

Yes, agree the current page is quite outdated.

Please report a new bug here:
http://code.google.com/p/fbug/issues/entry?template=Documentation%20defect%20report

so it's not forgotten and I'll take a look at it.

Thanks!
Honza

But the developers description of these features may not be the best
ones and any way don't exist as you say.

So take action: update the wiki! Don't worry about accuracy we can fix
any details.

Thanks Honza, I posted the issue (http://code.google.com/p/fbug/issues/
detail?id=3026).

John, I know, that a developer will have a different view to the
features he was implementing and maybe sometimes will describe it too
technically and might be using internal terms, which the users won't
know. But though they have the best knowledge of the things
implemented in Firebug and for example I'm sure most of the people
don't know about the tweaks of Firebug "under the hood" in
about:config (including me :-) ). And the fact, that they don't exist
was the reason to open this thread. I know you guys are already busy
with development and the documentation may be a boring thing, but
though the people out there need it to get to know about your
extension. And as Steven Roussey already mentioned in
http://groups.google.com/group/firebug-working-group/msg/fdabd465ef2cacbc
in the Firebug User Survey thread this would be the first step to
implement a "Tips" tab.

I'm on it. Though I'll need help of some of you guys because of the
reasons mentioned above. I would start describing the different panels.

I will be happy to update the Inspector page(s), I know it is very out
of date.

Thanks Mike, that would be great!
But there's already the problem. :-) Because in the wiki I'm not
finding pages about the inspector. So which ones do you mean?

For the feature description pages (under "What is Firebug?") I already
made some screenshots using Firebug 1.6 I can provide. Just need to
know where to put them.

Great!

Here are couple of my posts about the Net panel I did in the past.

If you have any questions, ask here or under the
http://code.google.com/p/fbug/issues/detail?id=3026
(I am now cced on the report)

Thanks!

It seems like some pages are not linked for some reason ... maybe they
have not been moved from the previous pages properly.

I can see why ... there is no "Using Firebug" category and this is
probably what users would want.

We had quite a bit of information on our old site, I am not sure why
it was not added.

I see now, these types of pages are on getfirebug.com and not on the
wiki.

Sorry about that.

Yes, that's what I was describing in my first post. Though - as
already mentioned - this is also totally outdated.
You're right, users want to know about exactly that, but besides
praising the features at getfirebug.com they should also be documented
(more detailed) inside the wiki. At best the feature "teasers" should
link to the wiki then.
