What version of Firefox and Firebug do you have?
Have you tried to run Firebug in a new Firefox profile?

I quickly tested it (Firefox 22 and 19 + Firebug 1.11) and it works
for me.

Which browser version do you use? Could it be that you are talking about Firebug Lite and not Firebug (the Firefox extension)?
