Hey all. I'm having trouble when I try to change VS_VERSION_INFO within the /gen files to increase the version of the project. As soon as I change the string information with VS 2010, I start seeing stuff like this:

3>gen\firebreathWin.rc(8): error RC2144: PRIMARY LANGUAGE ID not a number
3>
3>
3>gen\firebreathWin.rc(16): error RC2135: file not found: VS_VERSION_INFO
3>
3>
3>gen\firebreathWin.rc(17): error RC2135: file not found: 1
3>
3>
3>gen\firebreathWin.rc(18): error RC2135: file not found: 1
3>
3>
3>gen\firebreathWin.rc(19): error RC2135: file not found: 0x3fL
3>
3>
3>gen\firebreathWin.rc(25): error RC2135: file not found: FILEOS
3>
3>
3>gen\firebreathWin.rc(26): error RC2135: file not found: 0x2L

Since the last project was built pre-1.7, I rebuilt the project with 1.7 so the version information does have to be changed.

I'll be poking around some more - the only way I've been able to 'undo' it is by creating another project, same name, and taking FireBreathWin.* (resource related files) and pasting them into the old project. This gets me back to 1,0,0,0 so that I can keep poking around.

Any wisdom out there? :-)

Problem Existed Between Keyboard and Chair. The README file served its purpose.

That said, feature request thought: Add version information to the gen script. Kind of 'meh' about it, actually, but... it's kind of wonky the way it is if you add additional subprojects to a 'solution' in VS 2010.

OK. I thought I had this all hammered out with Visual Studio 2010, but the problem simply morphs slightly every time.

I've followed the instructions of the readme, taking the copy of firebreathWin.rc from /gen_template and placing it in the directory of /myProject.

I edited it and managed to change the version in it, but it didn't change the information completely in the final DLL - the file version properly changed to 2.0.0.0 but the Product version stayed at 1.0.0.0.

This is Firebreath 1.7, Visual Studio 2010. What is the Right Way (tm) to change the version of the plugin? Editing it in Visual Studio causes bad things to happen (as expected), editing in Wordpad isn't useful, following the instructions in the README isn't really giving me the results I need - updated version info.

Has anyone done this in VisStudio2010 with 1.7?

Again, figured it out. The problem was in the replacement of all the appropriate strings.

Someone want to toss me an editor pencil? Someone needs to document that better, and I can probably handle that this evening.
