Hi,

some weeks ago I asked about FB 5 replicator creating too many files which in number and size do not
reflect the amount of data that was inserted or updated.
I thought the problem was solved after reinstalling FB, but it was not.

Since then, I did a lot of testing and found that the additional files are only created whenever
there was an import of some data from another FB database.
To give some context:
The database holds numbers from a PLC, about 700 items with a value every 5 minutes going back about
2 years
DB size is about 130 MB
The import from the second DB updates the values of 40 items going back 7 days, so only a fraction
of the total amount of data.

Yet, the combined size of the additional journal files is exactly the size of the whole DB, as if
the replicator sees a need to update all records.

So my question would be if is possible to look into the journal files to see which records are handled.

Any help appreciated

Florian

You could try to start a trace session and look for the updates and check if the writes are near the numbers you would expect. Triggers can create quite a waterfall of modifications.
I expect if you would 'modify the complete db' the replication files will be larger than the database itself.
