IBPhoenix used to have a product called magpie that would allow for connecting to remote ODBC databases via PSQL.

It was in beta and I actually wanted to see if that was available but it has now disappeared from the ibphoenix site and I don't see any way of contacting them except by a web form that is not submitting.

Does anyone know what happened to the project and if IBPhoenix is still active?

Hello Dalton,

Take a look on Execute Statement On External plugins in HQbird to access MySQL and ODBC- MySQLEngine, ODBCEngine

Hello Alexey,

Thanks for putting HQBird on my radar.   I was looking through the documentation and it appears to be what we are looking for.

My only holdup is that I would want to actually test it for a week to see if it can truly work with our Kafka/MSSql and MariaDB as easily as the documentation states.

Sadly (mostly from MS products) the hype does not match the reality of the matter.

I saw your name on the contact us site - do you know if it is possible to get a time limited version?

We are currently running parallel databases of both MariaDB and Firebird, as test platforms to replace our MSSQL systems.
MariaDB has the benefits of better third party software support (more software supports it), better connectivity (native connectors to other databases) and more people are familiar with it.
Firebird has Maria beat in every other way.
With HQBird, if I am able to install a copy, have it broadcast to kafka and read/write to both mariadb and MsSQL, then it would have us using a HQBird solution.

Best regards

Dalton

Nevermind, just reading through the features documentation of some of the things and it references a 30 day trial as a comment on other features, so I will download and see if it works
