Connecting 32-bit app with 32-bit fbclient.dll to 64bit server

Hello,

tried to get this to work with two different Client applications, and did not get it to work.  

Might be the bugs in these client apps, but could not create a database with them. Tried to use TCP/IP protocol to 127.0.0.1 server. And there was Could not establish connection error.

Should or could this work?

it is possible to connect a 32 bit Client Application with an 32 bit fbclient.dll with a 64 bit server.

It is also a “must” to use 32 bit fbclient in 32 bit Applications.

Did You try to connect to embedded server? Can You write the exact error message, please.

Thanks for info,

I know I must use a 32-bit client dll.

I'll get back to this later. Is there some app that is known to work in this situation. So I could test a known app, if it works, I could make a bug report to the authors of the Apps.

I have a lot of 32 bit applications that uses a 64 bit server.

You can try flamerobin 32 bit (https://github.com/mariuz/flamerobin/releases/tag/0.9.3.11) But You don’t need to write a bug report to an external app developer if You know the expected function should work, but in Your case / environment it does not work.

Please write Your exact error message.

Is this FB 4. I had the same issue and downgraded to FB 3.   I have a similar post with pictures.

Your post was about installing Firebird 4 on Windows XP IIRC, that would
be a different problem.

Ha ha....

And the service never started after install :D Did not boot the computer in between I gues... Works as expected. Sweet!
