On my hosting usage page I was suprised to see today that downloads has a limit of 360MB / day.

I didn't see that on the firebase pricing page:

Where is it documented? Shouldn't it be on the pricing page, describing the limit and telling the user how much it costs when going above the limit?

Hi there,

You can use the pricing calculator here:
https://firebase.google.com/pricing#blaze-calculator

Hosting has a free allocation of 10GB a month.  In the shortest month of the year that is about 360 MB / day which I believe is why you're seeing that limit.

The hosting calculator only shows the 10GB limit monthly there is no daily limit mentioned. What is the point of the MB/day display on the usage page then?

Do I have to pay something if one day I transfer 500 MB and on all the other days 200 MB? If not then why doesn't the usage page show the monthly quota instead? If yes then the pricing calculator should show and consider the daily limit too.

Hi there,

There is a note at the bottom of the calculator that says:
"Free usage on Blaze plan is calculated daily. Details differ slightly for Cloud Functions, Firebase ML, Phone Auth, and Test Lab. For more info, see the FAQs"

Specifically:

How is the free usage in the Blaze plan different from the free usage in the Spark plan?
Free usage on the Blaze plan is calculated daily. Usage limits also differ from the Spark plan for Cloud Functions, phone authentication and Test Lab.

Thanks, so this means if one goes over  the daily 360 MB limit then there are costs even if one stays under the 10 GB downloads per month.

Pity it's only mentioned in tiny starred text on the calculator page. The Blaze pricing calculator could be more honest if instead of GB transferred limit it showed MBs transferred per day, saying it is free only if one stays under 360 MB transferred per day.

Hi there,

You're right.  We need to make that page clearer.  I'm going to talk to some other people and see what improvements could be made.  Thank you!
