firebase slow on IOS

Hi, notice that firebase is very slow on the first call > 10 seconds. Here is the repo to reproduce the issue:  https://github.com/frankpolkm/ionic-conference-app . Only add firebase by npm and add several line in app.ts. Also there are some network error in the console log which happened after I add firebase to the demo app. 

Please let me know what I did wrong.
